Privacy and data
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Strong After Forty handles personal data collected through strongafterfourty.info. It covers what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and your rights under UK data protection law.
Data we collect
We collect personal data only when you give it to us. Beyond that, we keep a small amount of technical information so the site stays secure and we can tell which pages people actually read.
Nothing on this site asks you to create an account, and you can read every guide without sending us anything at all.
- Name, email and messageSent only when you use the contact form Used to reply — we answer your question and keep the thread for reference
- IP address and browser typeRecorded automatically by the server Used to keep the site up — blocking abuse and diagnosing faults
- Pages visitedAggregated in analytics reports Used to see what helps — so we know which guides to keep improving
We do not ask for health details, and we do not want you to send them through the contact form. If you need personal dietary advice, speak to your GP or a registered dietitian.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
How we use your data
Two things happen with what we hold. Contact form data is read by a person and used to answer you. Technical data is used to keep the site secure, understand which pages are useful, and diagnose problems when something breaks.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making, we do not build advertising profiles from it, and we do not pass it to anyone who would.
If you write to us about a nutrition question, we may use the general subject of your message to decide which guides to expand next. We do not publish or quote individual messages without asking you first.
Legal basis for processing
- Consent — contact form data
- You give this when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time by contacting us, and we will stop processing your message.
- Legitimate interest — technical data
- We have a reasonable need to run a secure, working website. This covers server logs and the analytics that tell us which pages are being read.
- Legal obligation — records
- If we are required to keep or disclose something by law, we will do so and tell you where we are allowed to.
Keeping it simple
Retention, sharing and the rights you can use
We keep contact form messages for up to 24 months after the last correspondence, and technical and analytics data for up to 14 months. After that, data is deleted or anonymised. If you want something removed sooner, just ask.
Sharing your data
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the site, and only as far as the job requires. Each provider is bound by contract to handle data in line with UK data protection law.
- Website hosting Stores the pages and the server logs. It processes your IP address as a normal part of serving a request, and nothing more.
- Analytics provider Reports which pages are read and how people arrive. Reports are aggregated and are not used to single you out.
- Email delivery Carries the message you send through the contact form to our inbox, and carries our reply back to you.
- Law enforcement and regulators Only where we are legally required to disclose, and only to the extent the request actually covers.
Some providers may store data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy finding.

Where this policy sits among the rest
This page covers how we handle personal data. How we run the site, what you can expect from our guides and the limits of what we offer are set out in the terms of service, and the cookies we set are listed in the cookie policy.
Questions people ask about this policy
What happens to my message after I send the contact form?
It arrives in our inbox and is read by a person, who replies to the address you gave. The thread is then kept for reference for up to 24 months after the last exchange. If you want it deleted before that, contact us and we will remove it.
Do you use my data to decide what nutrition advice I see?
No. Every guide is the same for every reader. We do not run automated decision-making on your data, and we do not build a profile of your health or your diet. We may use the general subject of messages we receive to decide which topics to cover next.
How do I ask for a copy of the data you hold about me?
Write to us by post or through the contact page and say that you are making a data access request. We will confirm what we hold and send a copy. We aim to respond within one month.
Will this policy change?
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and change the date at the top of it. Where a change is significant, we will say so plainly rather than leaving you to spot it.
This policy was last updated on 4 November 2026.
